Chuck Liddell quits

Chuck Liddell. A UFC hall of famer, a former, light heavyweight champ. He did so much for the world of MMA but like all good things in life it comes to an end. Today Liddell official announced his retirement from MMA as an active fighter and as a tribute we at have put up a video of some of his best fights. Enjoy.

Bellator : The next great MMA success story ?

Most people in the MMA community are already aware of this fact, but just in case you have been living in a cave for the last few weeks we at http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/ will remind of it. Bellator fighting championships have just signed a TV deal with MTV.

Now to most people this may not be that much of a big deal. This is where we at http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/ disagree. Bellator have in fact pulled of a major coup here. They are now going to gain exposure to a new demographic which probably has not had a great deal of exposure to MMA. http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/ believes that this can only be a win- win situation for Bellator for the following reasons:

A new untapped market.

Generates a bigger interest in MMA.

Another choice of MMA to watch other than the UFC and Strikeforce.

http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/ knows that most casual and hardcore fans are already aware the UFC is the most popular if not the biggest MMA organisation in the world. When people think of MMA they immediately think of the UFC (well most of the casual fans do any why). The UFC is now a multimillion dollar industry and has shows in almost every corner of the world. The demand to have events in new markets increases by the day. However it was not always like this as the diehards and hardcore fans are well aware.

The concept that really catapulted the UFC into the mainstream was the ultimate fighter reality TV show.
Since its inception in 2005 the ultimate fighter has been nothing short of a phenomenon. Looking back we at http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/ can say that’s when it really all changed for the UFC.

Bellator arriving on MTV may be the thing that launches that organisation to the next level. There may come a time in five or ten years time when MMA insiders and enthusiasts look back on this deal and say that’s when it all changed.

Does Frankie have the answer for the bully?

On new years’ day Frankie Edgar goes into UFC 125 on a mission. This mission is not only to defend his UFC lightweight title but to avenge the only lose of his professional MMA career.

In http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/’s opinion this match could be tougher for Edgar than the matches with BJ Pen. Some of you reading this will find that statement shocking but before you start adding negative comments allow me to explain.
We at http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/ believe that Frankie Edgar totally dominated BJ Pen in two fights (that’s our opinion regardless of what other people may think). His wrestling was much better than BJ Pen’s as was his boxing. In the second fight in particular he was able to control and take down BJ Pen which has not happened for a long time in the lightweight division.

Gray Maynard poses a very different kind of treat. He is a wrestler and a good one at that. Now we at http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/ will admit that Gray Maynard may not be the most entertaining or exciting fighter but http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/ also knows that MMA is a results business. His record of 11-0, 1NC suggests that he is doing something right. The fact he has beaten Edgar already is a huge bonus in a sport where the mental aspect is almost as important if not more so than the physical or skill aspect.

http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/ wonders if Maynard is able to score a takedown early in the fight how will this affect the mind set of Edgar? To have a man that has already beaten you take you down early in a fight would be a bad omen of things to come. Yes Edgar has shocked the world twice before. However here at http://howtobeanmmafighter.com/ we believe that Edgar will need to do that once again to walk out of MGM Grand Garden Arena still the UFC lightweight champion.

Florian-Dunham To Headline UFC "Fight For The Troops 2" On 1/22?

Here at How to be an MMAfighter have heard from several MMA websites have recently confirmed the long-rumored bout between top-ranked lightweights Kenny Florian and Evan Dunham.

Originally rumored for UFC 126 in February, Florian-Dunham will soon be announced as the headline attraction for UFC Fight Night 23 on January 22.

The event itself has yet to be confirmed by UFC officials, although rumors insist the show will be the second UFC "Fight For The Troops" fundraiser, likely at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.
